Bamburgh Castle from Stag rock.
We have been to the Highlands of Scotland many times now and we always find our way to arguably the most photographed Castle in Scotland; you don’t need to look any further than the traditional Christmas/New Year (New Year as it is traditionally eaten with a wee dram) shortcake tin. No matter where you go, you will always find a tin of shortcake with a photograph of this castle – Eilean Donan Castle. You would be forgiven for thinking that it has stood intact for centuries guarding Loch Duich from all-comers, but you would be wrong…. The current castle has been extensively rebuilt from absolute ruin. It is still very pretty though:-
